Electric brake controller

I find myself towing my sub compact tractor a fair amount on a trailer with my Ranger, and am looking for a trailer with trailer brakes to assist in getting things slowed down better. The trailer is going around 1500lb with a 3000lb tractor on it, so I'm towing some serious weight for a Ranger. My question is, has anyone used an electric brake controller on a Ranger? Was it difficult to put on a Ranger, and did you like the results? What kind is it?

I tow a a race car on a trailer with a combined weight of over 3500 lbs plus about 800 lbs of gear on the bed. I use a Tekonsha Voyager electric brake controller and am very happy with it. I didn't think it was difficult to install but it does take some effort and time to do it.

It is adjustable and in addition to being automatic, it has a manual control for the trailer that can be used if the trailer happens to start whipping.

U-Haul electric brake controller. It matches and works fine for the travel trailer I towed.
