I have a 2000 ranger 2.5 thats not wired for cruise under the hood would I have to change any wiring in the cab other than the clock spring and switch's if I change the wiring harness under the hood ?

 

Yeah the dash wiring harness has two wires that go from the bulk head connectors (the big three connectors behind your fuse box in the engine bay) to the connector at the bottom of the clockspring. These wires are for the switches.

It also has the wire connected for the "speed cont" indicator for your instrument cluster.

Do you have power windows/locks? If you don't you can add this harness to give you those options while your at it.

I swapped both harnesses for my conversion.

Harness must be from a 2000 ranger without 4wabs which is pretty much any 2wd model that year.

If you got the time and patience the OEM way is the way to go. You will be more happy with it.

But if you do go aftermarket don't, I repeat don't get a vacuum controlled one. Get a fully electric one.

 

thats what i was thinking I realy dont want the truck down for very long I put 75 miles a day on it gong to work would hate to drive my f250 to many days to work

 

Couple hours for the engine bay harness, 6 hours for the dash harness (if its your first time, I could probably do it in 2), and about 2 hours for each door (not replacing just swapping out the parts). You could do things individually. What I did. One day for dash, one for engine bay, and one for doors (that is if you decide to do power doors).

 

I'm just really interested in the cruise since the a/c works well I think Ill look around for the parts before I decide for sure what I'm going to do

 

Why do you keep referencing the Air conditioning?

So you don't need power windows because your Air conditioning works so well? That doesn't make any sense.

 

lets just say I don't need power windows and locks all I want is cruise on it if i want all that ill just drive my F250 lariat

 

I was just saying if you were going to swap out the harnesses you might as well swap out the ones for power doors, you can still use it without hooking up the power mirrors, locks, windows.

It adds like 1000 bucks to your book value of your truck.

It just seems to me that you spend more time in your Ranger so why not make it more comfortable.

 

I understand where your coming from but after the cruise I would rather put some nice seats and few other things
