Icon8 evaperator pressure sensor

a few weeks ago i listed i had a 2011 ford ranger and after washing under the truck my engine light came on,took it to my mechanic and when he looked it up it showed one guy got the large connector wet thats inside the frame rail on drivers side
he unplugged it and water ran out
he then dryed the plug and added some electrical grease.
light went off and stayed off until next day then back on
i have unpluged it and cleaned it plus about everyother plug i could find underneath the truck.
reset computer but still the engine light is on.
The code it keeps giving is po453 pressure evaperator senor.
any ideals what i need to do next

I assume that you're talking about a round 8-pin connector. If not, check it for water. It comes from a harness off the DS rear of the transmission and connects to a harness leading toward the fuel tank.

There is also one more connector that MIGHT be causing the trouble if it got wet. It is the plug right on the Evaporative Pressure Transducer on top of the fuel tank. I suspect that it could be difficult or impossible to reach with the bed in place. I couldn't say for sure since I haven't worked on a 2011.

The only other connector that is involved with P0453 is under the hood on the PCM in the PS firewall.

bob i checked the plug that comes off the back of transmission no water in it also
dryed out the big plug inside the drivers frame rail again still no luck
no you cant get to the one above tank without dropping tank but i don,t see how
i could have got water that far up.
i kinda of think i might have shorted out the ftp sensor when i got water in the large
rail frame plug only thing the light stayed out for a day after it was dryed.

It requires two consecutive "trips" with the same fault to light the CEL. So you could have had it off for the first trip after a PCM reset, then lit it on the second trip.
