Hey guys,
I had one of my headlights burn up the other day, and my little brother has a set of Euro Designz 9007 Bulbs he never used, they are some kind of cheap ebay brand i think. I can't find any info on them online, so they might not be making them anymore. IF i can remember right, they say 55W on the bulb housing. On the package they don't say anything about the wattage, they just say DOT Approved. I am wondering, AM i going to be okay running those in my truck? I have heard alot about burning up harnesses. I have seen some 9007s at the auto parts store that say.. 55w then like 110 drawing wattage. Could somebody fill me in?

If you stick to 55/65 watt lamps then you should be OK but if you start to go above that wattage range start thinking about an aftermarket harness or just build one.

As an example:
I have 55/100 watt Bulbs going in my headlights.
Housings are after market and rated for the higher wattage lamps.
Harness is aftermarket harness that will be both mod’d (battery power wire to relay and then to headlights) and installed along with the higher wattage bulbs.

Do it right the first time and the lights will burn brighter and last longer.

 

^^agreed! my headlight switch used to get extremely hot, in fact here is a pic of the wiring harness. i found a replacement at car quest, and got the heavy duty harness from lmc truck. headlights seem brighter, the harness doesn't get hot anymore. i highly recommend doing it if upgrading your lights.

I know these bulbs are cheap, you can just tell. It doesn't even say on the package the wattage but on the actual bulb it says " 9007 55W ". I AM assuming that they are 55/65 bulbs and not something falsly printed on there, I hope i am right. I mean, I figured, they are free, and i could use them if they arent going to hurt my rig.

Install them, turn the on with the engine running and let them burn for a while.
Check the harness and the Headlight switch every once in a while to see it there is excessive heat not just a little warm.
If no too hot them they should be OK for the long run.

luck to ya, keep an eye on the wire heat too.

 

Hey man if you don't mind me kicking in my two cents. You will be disappointed with these headlights. They don't seem to have a good solid beam and the highbeams were almost non existent. I bought them for my headlights and fogs, the fog lights burnt out in about 2 months and I so unhappy with the headlights that I went ahead an replaced them all with Sylvania bulbs. but there was no damage to the harness. So if they are free then go with it, Just be safe driving at night.

 

i agree, you wont be happy, i have alot of experence with these types of bulbs, i went thru alot of them when i had my accord, my recomendation would either be a HID kit, or the silverstars

you will be disappointed with those blue tinted bulbs. went through that BS on my old car. finally got HID's and never looked back.

 

Get HID's, trust me you'll like them!

yea the only problem with the hid's is replacing the bulbs.......160 for a pair......
