Expedition remote works on my 99 Ranger

Expedition remote works on my 99 Ranger
My used Ranger did not come with a keyless remote, I went to my storage unit and fished out a keyless remote from my long gone 2001 expedition, put a new 2032 battery in it and took it to So.Bay Ford, The guy in service cranked the key 10 times in the ignition then pressed the remote button and it works!!, No Charge too!, Cool!
Is that all it takes to progam a remote that isnt a specific model code or was I just lucky? Just Curious. DR

Thats all it takes. Our Dakota has a Jeep Liberty key fob on it.

They all do it, I have an extra one from when we bought my dads F150 that I reprogrammed to work with my truck.

I'm gonna put a new battery in the Mustang remote and see if that works too. dr
