Filter after air box mod

Just did the air box mod on my 4.0.
The questions I have is do I need to switch to an oiled K&N type, or can I still use a regular Motorcraft paper filter? If I have to switch, are the oiled filters bad for the MAF, TB?
What about intake of rain water during normal driving, since the shroud is gone? No off roading is done so that isn't an issue.
