what would I need to make my exhaust shoot flames? I'm not talking huge flames, but noticable. Someone told me about a spark plug in the pipe that would ignite the fumes, but I highly doubt that would work

 

summitracing has kits for that...

 

dangerous and highly ilegal mod...have fun with it. just buy a kit and the spark plug in teh tail pipe is basically how it works. personally I think you should find a way to shoot flames out the front so hwn people cut you off you can roast them

You cant do the kit they are talkin about if you have cats.... they kill the ignition and cause raw fuel to dump into the exhaust, and the spark plug in the exhaust ignites the fuel.... it is bad for you engine, and it will wipe out the cats..... if you wanna build a injector type system that will shoot flames as far as you want, just let me know

i know on carborated cars its really easy to do.. all you do is wire up a spark plug hit the choke and you got fire...

not sure how the kit for injected cars works... i supose you could figure somthing out with those lille colman fuel cylinders and a electric BBQ grill ignitor... hummm....

 

would there be a way to just redneck rig it in a single exhaust system?
I want to play with it before I put my new duals in, so I can cut it up and w/e if needed

 

I built one using a small, like a 1/2 gallon, fuel tank, cheap low psi fuel pump, 12 volt glow plug, and a little wiring and some copper tube... install the copper tube in the exhaust about 8 inches in from the exit point, then install the glow plug about 5 inches in from the exit point... run a lil bit of rubber fuel line from the pump to the copper tube, then hook the pump to the tank and wire it all up....

 

good idea, I've got alot of that stuff around the shop, I just don't have a pump.. I'll have to give it a try

 

cough cough... i would use the coleman fuel things.. there under preasure.. so you wouldnt need a pump... find a way to plumb it to a NOS nossle or somthing like that...

 

actually, those colemans would be a good idea... what about a 10lb propane bottle that I could bracket in the bed?

 

that would be alitle scary... but i am sure that would also work...

i was just thinking about the coleman ones because their cheep, you can refill them,and their small, not sure how much gas flow youd need for a steady flame... but i know in my dual mantle lantern 1 cylinder last quite a long time...

 

i started thinking somemore about this... if the thought of using a gas bothers you... try liquids... rubbing alcohol if you found a way to "mist" it that would be good... it wouldnt leave a residue or anything.. it would completly burn up...

 

oh and if you go the spark plug route make sure to use a tractor plug...

 

I have a stock fuel pump that i could use... (pretty fast)

 

I think I'll just go with the coleman bottles.. I can pick them up pretty cheap at canadian tire
