This can't be good... another problem

Why in the world do leaves blow out of the floor area on my passenger side? everytime I change the air type(A/C, MAX A/C, and panel) the freaking vent or w/e blows leaves out... I've never rode w/ my windows down or anything... is this normal??? or is there a cover missing somewhere... my poor ranger...

In 07 ford came out with a new "green" ranger, and the leaves are a by product of your ranger sucking in carbon dioxide and converting it to oxygen thru photosynthesis.

It also explains why water drops out of your exhaust after you drive for a while.

Sounds weird but it's true. Just part of Fords attempt to Go "Green" and be more eco friendly. Don't believe us? just wait for Bob to Chime in.

Leaves, twigs, etc. can sometimes find their way into the A/C blower plenum through the cowl - this is especially true if you habitually park under trees. When you switch to recirculation mode (OFF or MAX A/C), a door opens in the bottom of the plenum (located above the passenger side footwell) and it is possible for the debris to drop into the interior.

Pull the blower motor and clean out the plenum.

A dealship very well might charge you for that! They don't deliver leaves with new trucks.

It's not hard to do.

It's not THAT bad. Remove all the blower screws, unbolt the cruise servo from the fender (one bolt, IIRC), loosen the mount bolts for the two reservoirs and force the blower out.

I'm sorry that I forget whether you force the top or the bottom of the blower cage out of the plenum. It only works one way; I THINK the bottom has to clear first.

It doesn't take a lot of force, but with the list of things I mentioned loose, it'll come out. You don't have to REMOVE the reservoirs. I do it about once a year to clean out the pine needles.

I doubt if the dealer will cover that under warranty, but you may luck out.

I agree, you should take it to the dealer. It sounds like it was delivered from the factory with leaves in it. Just explain to the dealer that it was like that when you brought it home. I think they will take care of it for you under warranty. If not contact Ford Cusomer Relations about it.

The only problem I ever had was after a nice day of offroading in dusty conditions, when I turned on my air for the first time after, a huge puff of dust would explode from the vents...then after that it would stink like dust for a few months...thats about it.

You'll be the fool of the day if you try that. Everyone will laugh at you.....LOL

1 or 2 leaves probably blew out.....come'on now. If it's shooting out debris like a chipper, I say look in the blower assembly. Don't worry about the dealership....I think you'll just make their day.

Could it be possible that a creature/rodent is trying to build a nest in there? I've seen rodents pack a crap load of pine straw, fur and leaves into a vehicle's air box. Not sure how accessible the blower is to an animal though.

You would be the fool of the day if you didn't take it in. Ford dealers are required to deliver a clean/prep'd new vehicle. It seems this was not done.

I don't hesistate to take any new vehicle back to the dealer for anything that is not right. Why should I fix something that is wrong with a new car. Dealers are usually accomodating unless they don't care about their business. If they want to laugh, that's OK, I still get the work done.

Rolldogg, would you just accept it if someone stuck a coke can in you door at the factory resulting in a rattle. Yes, you could take it out yourself and possibly break something while removing the door panel. Guess what, if you break something while doing your own work it is no longer covered under warranty.

I agree with you on delivering a clean vehicle, but since he said there aren't any trees near the dealer, it had to come from the factory that way. Aside from that, how is the dealer going to know that leaves were in his blower motor. If it were me considering how valuable my time is, I wouldn't waste it at the dealer. Just pull the cover and clean out whatevers left and call it a day....
