tips on replacing hub assembly on 4wd edge?

tips on replacing hub assembly on 4wd edge?

well, my ranger has gone almost 4k on a bad hub ***, and its not going any more! my part arrives tomo, so i have to start on it soon (work truck)! any tips or tools, that would make it easier? far as i know its remove axel nut, caliper, dust shield , rotor comes off, then 3 bolts that hold hub ***. on then repete. ive never done this so any help is greatly appreciated thanks.

You shouldn't need any special tools. Its pretty straight forward.

the only special tool is the axle nut socket, wich is pretty big. also an FYI, dont re-install the axle nut with and impact, you will damage the bearing unit. torque it down to the correct spec.

the tq specs are 160ft lbs , for axel nut! sounds like i may need a breaker bar remove axel nut. i can get new axel nut at auto parts store ?

You won't need a new axle nut if you don't ruin it.

you can use an impact to remove the nut, since you are replacing the unit anyways. just torque it when you install it on the new unit.

ok i need lil help hear! got everything off abs sensor, rotor, and 3 bolts that hold hub assembly on, i cant get the hub to come off i tried a puller dident work im stuck

i got mine off with a puller type thing that my dad uses to work on washers and dryers but i seen someone use a flathead srew driver and a hammer to get the old hub out

you didnt say you took off the large CV axle nut did you?

If I have a hub stuck, I just put the wheel on it, put a couple lug nuts on and kick the tire, off comes hub, I don't have to walk to my toolbox.

well guys i got the old unit off, a friend of mine works at ford and gave me a big puller, it was on there almost 40 min to remove!! i ran out of day lite and stoped, but im haveing trouble now sliding the new unit onto the axel splines!!

mine just fell iff when i took the bolts out i never used a puller
