Fuel pump not working
Hello! I just replaced my fuel pump in my 2000 Ford ranger. After I hooked back up all the wiring, the truck would not start and I noticed that the fuel pump was not turning on. I check the fuse, relay and emergency shut off, still no luck. Anyone have an idea to what might have happened? Thank you.

Welcome to the forum
Did you test the pump before installing?
If it wasn't a Motorcraft(ford) pump then its never been tested before
Best thing to do is to put a volt meter on either terminal on the inertia switch(emergency shut off) and ground the meter
Turn on the key and you should see 12volts on the meter for 2 seconds and ONLY 2 seconds, repeat key off and then ON and you will get another 2 seconds of 12volts each time
If that happens then fuel pump power is making it to there, so fuse and relay are fine, pump would be in question
There will be 5-8volts after the 2 seconds, just FYI thats just monitor voltage, no amps
Could be connector on top of tank?
Can be tested same way, key on 2seconds of 12volts

Fuel system short
The red wire on this harness had a section of insulation rubbed off shortong it to the body. Blew the fuel pump fuse. I have been scratching my head on this for a week. After a fuel pump change, the fuse blew again. Si i found this while the checking the harnesses. The plastic cover ment to protect the harness actualy pressed it against the frame eventualy resulting in this short.
Here is a closer look at the contact point.
