Fuel pump problems???

So I've just recently noticed when I hop in the truck to leave and turn the key, it just turns over no fire. So I return the key to the off position and try again slowly (I can hear 2 separate buzzing noises before starting) and it fires right up. I'm wondering if because the battery is basically a lawn mower battery lol not really; the battery could not be enough?? It's only started doing this lately. What if I got an optima battery??? It always starts but I still worry it won't eventually.
thanks alot guys. 2007 ranger xlt 2.3l

Cycle the key on and off 3 times then try to start

Each time you turn the key on the computer turns on fuel pump to Prime the fuel injection system, but it only runs 2 seconds which = about 10psi fuel pressure

When key/engine is off, fuel pressure should hold above 30psi for months and months
If the pressure regulator(in the gas tank) or the Fuel pump check valve(in the pump) should start to leak then when vehicle sits pressure bleeds off

Engine runs at 55-65psi fuel pressure
But will start with 20psi, under that it will "try to start", but may not, and it will stumble a bit, until pressure gets above 40psi

Cycling the key on and off 3 times would give you 30-40psi

If this works then fine, but to fix it you would need a new fuel pump assembly, it comes with new regulator and pump

I wouldn't thing battery, but you mentioned "slow" so get a volt meter and test the battery after it sits overnight before starting
12.8volts is New Battery
12.5v is a 3 year old battery
12.3v is a 5/6 year old battery and time to shop for battery sales

12.2v or less is a bad battery, change it ASAP, next cold morning will give you the "click, click, click" no crank
