Gas cap light

This past Saturday I did the 1" body lift and now the check gas cap light is on. One of the old bed bolts snapped so I had to take the bed off to get what was left of the bolt.

I checked the gas cap all seems to be fine so I unplugged the battery drove around and bam the light came back on. Tomorrow I'm going to go grab a new fuel cap.

Has anyone else had this problem? Where else should I look?

If that doesn't fix it, you might have torn the filler hose or created a opening.

I found a evap hose under the hood on the drivers side it was disconnected. The hose is to short from the body lift.

I put the new hose on and all seems to be fine. I think the previous owner put a
Shorter hose on because it was duct taped on

Dam....at least you got it fixed now, good job! Damn Duct tape fixes!

A friend had a prob with his lawn drainage on a New house. Turns out main(cracked) underground drain pipe to the street was duct-taped by the landscape contractor. We dug up that new yard all over to find that(they paid for repair eventually).

So I don't start a new thread, I have the same light on, and it's driving me crazy, as crazy as the CEL on :)

My problem didn't originate by lifting or messing with the body, but trying to replace the gas cap with a locking gas cap, which eventually didn't fit, but I was working under the rain and didn't bother to do a "dry fit" so I removed the stock one, placed the locking one on, and didn't work, so I put the stock one back and loaded the truck into a shipping container, now I find that light is ON.

Another thing I did, and it may be the issue here, is that I inserted a tube from a manual pump to pump out some gas in order to ship it (required by freight company), and based on what you guys said here it may have something to do with the fuiller hose or something

any help or if there's a fuse I can unplug to get rid of this crap would be appreciated

Check your Evap hoses and your filler neck.
you might have messed up the seal on the top of the filler neck.

I would inspect the filler neck... May have damaged it and caused a leak.
