Icon5 Gear Shift Linkage

Any idea where this part might go under the dash in an 2000 v6 3.0L automatic? I have had no luck looking for a schematic online and I did not take the dash cover off yet to try to fix it.

synopsis:
I shifted from park to drive and this fell into my floor board near the accelerator. It still went into gear and back into park. No other symptoms are apparent at this time.

Welcome to the forum

Need the picture

There are a few parts for the shift linkage, if it looks electrical it is probably the solenoid that locks shifter in Park until foot is on the brake

Picture is up now. Thanks and it looks more mechanical than electrical at the moment.

Doesn't look familiar

Diagram here: https://www.justanswer.com/ford/4dsl...ans-xxxxx.html
Just click on Down arrow in popup box when it comes up

Maybe #30??? but not sure what that even does, says "shift lever" but as far as I know thats that big arm you grab to shift gears, lol.

It may be the right side of part number 22 in the diagram you sent.

The piece is well lubricated and had only 1,non threaded hole. I will definitely post updates when i take the dash apart Thursday 5/10/2018

Thanks for the diagram RonD.

Icon4 ** UPDATE **

I took the dash covers off to get a better angle (and to replace dashboard lights) I found the apparent place for my missing piece. In the image I believe it goes short end into the opening first. For reference, the copper wire, also in the circle, is the dashboard indicator for the gear selector. After searching for any other loose fasteners on the floor boards and not finding any, I am stumped as to what it goes to and how it stays in.

Does anyone know the function of the original piece that fell out and have a picture of theirs intact?

Found a picture here: https://www.f150forum.com/f12/column.../#&gid=1&pid=1

Looks like it's just a press in pin that held it

Not a clue on it's function, but it looks like it slides in quite a ways
