Having issues sourcing 2005 2.3 Ranger Coolant Hose Sub Degas Tank 4l5z-8c633-aa

Hello All,

I need to put a new clutch in the ranger at some time as it has trouble going into 1st gear. I have put a new master cylinder and no change.

While we have it all apart the forum has strongly advised that we change out the coolant hose that goes behind the engine that goes to the egr valve while we have it all apart as there is a common failure point at the plastic T.

Unfortunately the dealer does not carry the part anymore and the internet has not shown much either. The part number they gave me was 4l5z-8c633-aa.
I did find a few parts that had different numbers but am not sure if they would work and I do not want the project to get held up due to not having the right parts.

Has anyone else had this issue and what is a good work around. I could make the hose out of regular hoses and T fittings but that would be much easier after I get the hose out of the car. I would consider that for the next time I change the hose when in another 16 years.

Thanks for your support and sympathy.

BOB

Ford initially put such custom pre-assemblies in the vehicle, like this coolant hose assembly,
to minimize factory time+labor, NOT to make it easier for an owner many years later to replace.
Personally, I'd use stock coolant Hoses+Tees+Clamps from your local parts house to replace that assembly,
& not pay an outrageous price for the Ford part\assembly, if you can even find it.

Well, I am a bit annoyed.

I bought the hose from PartsGeek as they listed it as the correct fit for the 2004 to 2005 ranger but it is the one for the 2001 to 2003 ranger. Their listing has a mistake on it.

Will this hose work. It looks very similar to the others that I have seen on the web for 2005.

I would rather just replace the old one with the new one rather than having it do much to bother with as I am going to bring it into a shop to change out the clutch sometime soon.

Maybe I am overthinking this one but what a PITA. I wish that Ford would just source the parts. You can say what you want about Mercedes but they still have parts for all of their cars.

Thanks,

BOB
