Headlight Switch LED MOD

Ok I have the resistor and leds. Do I really have to take the intrument panel apart to get to the bulb in the headlamp Switch? How do I do this? I have seen the thread on how to do the mod I just need to know how to get at the damn switch.

Remove the knee bolster, remove the metal portion behind the knee bolster. Remove the radio bezel, remove the two screws from the bottom of the IP, three above the IP one behind the radio bezel. There are two phillips screws holding the switch in.

yup...once you take the instrument panel off, the headlight switch is right there....have fun

there are bolts behind the radio bezel, and underneath the dash near the parking brake handle, hood release and OBD port....just remove all those, and you should be good to go

On 2003-back Rangers, you can (barely) get to the switch with the fuse box pulled out of the way from the left end of the dash. I don't know if Ford left an access on that end when they moved the fuse box to the PS kick panel on the 04s. Worth a look.

If not, you'll need to pull the radio, radio bezel, knee bolster and its plastic cover and the cluster surround. Not that hard really.

Yes on the 04 models there is a panel that can be removed but still may be kinda dificult to get at with the harness and wiring there for the switches. It could probably be done but would be tough.

I guess you know how to do the mod using the old bulb holder? It can be done without soldering. It's on my Cardomain site, if you're interested.

Yes the access panel is there on the drivers side. Before I go pulling on things is there any screws holding the switch in? I can not tell by looking at it. I can reach into the panel and plenty of room to get it out unless ihave to unscrew things.
