Help with 2021 Ford Ranger SuperCab brake light and Dome wiring for Bed Cap

Trying to connect wiring for brake light and dome light on bed shell cap. Installer wasn't able to get the lights working properly. My first concern is which color wire in the wiring harness I need to tap into to get the brake light working on the cap and then the dome light inside the cap. Is it possible to come off the trailer towing connector? Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum

I would check with Ford Dealer and have your VIN handy to see if there is an "off-the-shelf" plug in to get brake light output and 12volt output on your "model"

If you have a base model then wires for brake light and 12volts may not be there
But there may be a trailer wiring solution so check on that option

2021 Ranger most likely doesn't have a separate brake light wire at the rear, the turn signal wire on each side is also the brake light wire, so if you hooked up canopy brake light to one of those it would work as a brake light, but would also Flash like a turn signal when that wire was used for turn signal

You can buy a 2 to 3 wire converter to solve that issue but you would still need to get the 12volts for the dome light to the rear

So you could run 2 wires to the rear for use on the canopy
One from wire for cabs 3rd brake light
One from Fused battery power, full time or key on only, your choice, but just a heads up, full time can lead to a dead battery if dome light is accidentally left on
