I'm going to add a basic pair of fog lights on my rear bumper for extra light backing up, for fishing purposes, and also for tailgator deterrence (I doubt I would ever do that...can you say illegal?). Anyways, I'm eventually going to add a second fog light switch for some driving lights to the front down the road, but right now I'm not sure if I want to add another fog light switch on the left side of the bezel, or some sort of other toggle switch. I'm tempted to add it inside of the OHC, a pushbutton switch I can access just by pressing the remote button so to speak. Anyways, I'd like to see some photos for ideas if any of you have any.

You can barely see the carbon fiber switch panel I fabbed up in the background of this picture. It houses:

• Blue LED turn signals on Mirrors - Disable switch
• Matching face AutoMeter volt meter gauge
• IAT mod A-B switch
• IAT mod potentiometer (resistance select dial)
• Neon lights switch

Frank, simple solution if your lights are only for backing just tie into the existing back up lights, but im willing to be that your gonna wanna leave them on while out of the vehicle for fishing, so i would just get the exploder surround and pop in another fog light emblom push button where the rear d-frost button is

 

I may do that...granted I have to bondo up area for the the 4x4 switch and the rear wiper (I have never played with bondo, but need to learn). I do want it to be a separate switch, not tied into the backup lights (switches are cool, hehe). The switch that came with the lights I puchased is uber ugly, but having 3 fog light switches on the center bezel might look a little odd. I was temped to swap the bulbs in them so they are different colors for each pair of lights. Maybe a covered switch mounted somewhere out of the way? I'm not sure, hence the idea search. I like Bob's bezel the best (who doesn't?) but that's also out of my league in terms of setup.

Eh....I don't really like it in it's current state. I spent some time on fabbing up the panel, but since it has mismatched switches it needs some work. I'll be replacing the switches this weekend for a set of matching blue LED (of course) rockers...

 

Well, in that photo it looks nice. I'm tempted to just add a basic toggle switch with a cover on the bezel...my secret tailgater weapon, used only in emergencies, but it would just look awful like that...hmm, decisions decisions.

Dude seriously...everything on your truck is 12 Volt. 12 Volt DC is about the most basic form of electrical wiring you can find. Anything in your truck only needs one wire to power it, and a good solid ground to a metal surface.

I'm highly against cigarette lighter adapters on Radar Detectors and other power accessories for the sheer inconvenience of having to plug it in! I like my dash-board and the rest of my truck to be wire-free too, so I just hard-wire things in.

A switch is just a gate on the circuit...all of this wiring you have in your head really isn't that hard at all. Pick up a good circuit tester, or maybe even a multimeter, and a spool of wire, and go for it!

I've been planning on re-wiring everything in my truck when I switch my switches over to matching ones, so I'll snap pics of everything I do.

 

Multimeter...that's something I need to learn how to use.

Simple...2wd x-ploder bezel and the rear wiper can be another switch!

 

Just popped a third switch in over the weekend.

 

These are real sick mods. I've been hunting around for a Explorer bezel but I can only find ones that have that annoying rear wiper switch.

Looks like I'll have to go custom as well. I have a fog light switch but no fogs lmao.

 

I'm pretty sure that all of the Ex bezels have the rear wiper/washer switch. Here's a 2WD Ex bezel that has been converted by Jacob (TheForce02) to take the Ranger 12V power outlet instead.

 

hey bob how did you remove ur cigarette lighter for painting? I already broke it out using a lotta force, i kinda wanna do that 12 v source removal the right way. I still have no idea what im gonna do for the cigarette light to fix it back in, but it may involve breaking into my neighbor's ranger and pilfering like a bear in a crate of food.

 

Pull the bezel and unscrew the metal sleeve around the lighter. I just use a pliers or channel-locks and finesse it.
