help!!! power steering problem

help!!! power steering problem

Ok so my friend t5cents is out four wheeling and he went up over a hill got stuck then while backing down his power steering stopped working and it has fluid and it isn't leaking and sounds like its still trying to work...any ideas on what is wrong?

If it's not leaking, and has fluid then more than likely it's his P/S rack and pinion.

Likely too obvious, but he didn't lose the serpentine belt did he?

well drove it home the 170mi with out power steering....and replaced the rack under warranty at kragen and now its fixed....

How much did it end up costing? Looking at a truck that needs rack AND pinion replaced, trying to figure out if its worth it
