After a search I just have a few extra questions. One was that someone made a kit that you plugged right into the stock bulb plug and then it went through the ballast then to the new HID light. What company makes those? or is it all of them?

And next, fogs. Is 6000K too bright for fogs? I kind of like the look of the 3100K but I'm not really sure. And can someone point me to a kit for the fogs? I looked on ebay but there wasn't much of a selection for 9145's.

 

The number is color temperature, not brightness. 4600-6000 is a white to white with a slight blue tinge. Anything higher than that is flaming poser purple and should be avoided.

They are almost all plug-n-play now.

 

One more question.

Hi/lo kits (from what I've been reading) are junk? So if I get HID's I lose my hi beams if I'm not mistaken?

 

Some are cheapo. Some are fine. I have them and they are fine. If you were to get a low beam only kit, then yes you would lose your high beams.

 

What kit do you have? I would really like to keep my high beams.

 

i ordered 6000ks but was sent 8000ks. They're okay, didn't want the drama of returning and waiting again. But they're working fine. I have a low beam setup, I will be adding some off road lights soon to serve as my high beams...so dual purpose.

 

yah most people that have hi/lo kits end up ditching them... i got my HIDS for my fogs on ebay. $55 shipped

 

55$ is too cheap for HID's - everyone is getting them now and it is not going to be cool anymore.

 

I'm not really doing them for the "cool factor" haha. I saw my buddys car with HIDs and realized how much brighter they are and how dim mine are, figured it'd be a nice upgrade.

Unless, JP, you wanna rig up some super sweet LED headlight assembly that you want to send to me.

 

I kinda went for the visibility factor myself. Not too concerned with "cool" factor, I'd run sealed beams if they gave out decent light, also I don't think I've ever complained of anything being "too cheap"

the 1100? this was actually a couple months ago when i was in ca midas was doing a guys mercedes lights and parts were over 1100 for them.
