Horn isn't working

99 Ford ranger XLT 2wd horn isn't working checked fuses they are good. It was working before it went in the shop for the coolant hose and now it's not working at all. Fuses and relays are good. I have to do my inspection in a couple weeks so trying to get this fixed

So my cruise control buttons were melted and ratty. Literally looked like they could start a fire or cause electric shock. there are 2 flat blade connectors that connect to metal spring-like arms one on each side of the steering wheel. That is the actual horn switch. Those flat blades that connect to the horn switch connect to the clock spring via the cruise control buttons. It didn't make sense to me but as my local Ford dealership was closed I reached out to a buddy who works at a Ford dealership in Alaska. He told me that the horn connects to the clock spring via the cruise control buttons by those flat blade connectors. good news the cruise control buttons are cheap I asked if there was a way to connect without having the cruise control and was told there may be a part but for the ones that have cruise control no you have to have the cruise control buttons for the horn to work. I'm attaching 2 pictures one of the steering wheel if you look near the centers edge those 2 black lines are the actual horn connections that when they touch they cause the horn to honk and a picture of a cruise control button assembly the pink/orange connectors at the top of each of the sides are what connects to the horn buttons which makes up that connection.
