How much do you gain from a 3.0L.
How much do you gain from a 3.0L.
How much do you gain from a 3.0L if you chg the chip programing ?
I run 33s with 4.10, 5 sp and the 3.slow.
Usually not too bad but some of the longer hills take their toll.
I went to Vermont from MA and some of those hills were killers, slow, slow, slow over the top…; would go from 65 to 50 and nothing I could do once I hit the hill.
Sometimes if I was running around 70 it wasn’t as bad, rpm thing, I know but with 33s can’t keep the rpms up.

Any ideas where ?

Yeah but you have stock size tires. He has 33s.
Ive noticed driving my friends 3.0L ranger that there slow as hell on hills even with stock tires. Always have to be in 4th gear as 5th is completely useless. Seems rev happy though sitting at 3+ grand going up hills doing 100km/h or so....
Something doesn't seem right about that. When I was running 32's on my old 3.0/auto/superchip I was running about 2700rpms. I am doing about the same now with my 4.0/5spd/4.10's with 33's. If you were running 33's you'd be under 3k rpms. If I go to 4.56 I wouldn't go up that much in rpms. Now when I had my stock wheels/tires I ran right at 3k rpms at 70mph. You might want to double check your tire setting in the programmer.
32-3300 rpms at 60+, I guess these 3.0L do like to rev.
I am running 33s and will probably stay there, 4.56s seems a little deep to me but I am listening to everyone.
Complete 4.56 setup will run around 1800$$$, wow, labor is around $1K, and then you need a switchable locker for at least the rear, another $800, maybe $1600 for two.
Where to get a deal ?
What are you running for tire size ?

Correcto, 4.56s is too deep for 31s even. And stock size on 4x4 Rangers is prettyyyy close to 31 so it wouldn't matter either way.
Yeah 4.56 would be the ideal gearing for you. Although for the couple thousand dollars it would cost I'm not quite sure it would be fully worth it. The best bang for your buck is probably going to be a tuner from Fred at Rogue Performance ( http://rogueperformance.com/RogueCustomTuning.html ). I have one on my truck and did 0-60 back to back stock vs. his tune and the difference is huge. The 3.0 really doesn't make any power under 3k rpm as you probably are aware. His tune REALLY helps with that. My friend was actually in my truck when I was doing the runs and immediately looked at me and said wow what a huge difference.
