ok what year year is the truck and wha engine does it have, it could be a IACV problem or a MAS problem, clean the IACV out with brake parts cleaner, and put a little oil around the edges of the gasket when you put it back in and make sure they are tight, if you don't torque it tight enough they can come loose, and clean the MAS with the proper cleaner that you can buy at any auto parts store, its Mass Air-flow Sensor cleaner, try giving it a shoot of carb cleaner down the throttle body, and check for any vacum lines, make sure all the lines are connected to the main vac on the intake manifold some are not used and have caps on them, fallow all the hoses form the main vac to were ever they end up at, there should also be a vac diagram on the header panel, under the hood, make sure the IACV is plugged in all the way, if the clips are broken it could work its way off, if you have a 4 cylander engine with the egr valve on the intake manifold make sure thats tight that can cause a nasty vac leak, good luck, let me know what you come up with

ohh i see, so its carberated, ok so everything i just said you can forget about then, yeah idk other that setting the idle screw as close as you can so the throttle is almost closed, still check for vac leaks though, i guess a carberated engine still has vac lines.

uhh i'm not sure about the pcv since i know you can buy filters to put on directly on them, but it a definite possibility, so i would check it out hte line could be split or one of the boots could of been dry rotted

i'm not sure if about the fuel pump, you say you have a mechanical one in now, then if you put an electrical one in, it could be better or worse, and no i don't know the name of the boot, if its bad though, you can go to an auto parts store and they will be able to hook you up, and they will know which kind of fuel pump is best, i'm just not that knowledgeable on carberated engine performance, if you have other vacum hoses check those, i don't know that a fuel filter would cause it to idle high, but you could check it and replace it
