ignition lock
ignition lock
I have to replace my ignition lock on my 1994 Ford Ranger XLT extended cab with an automatic transmission. Every manual that I have consulted shows a place on the bottom of the steering column that you are supposed to be able to put in a pin or something similar to release the lock cylinder. On my column there is no hole to be able to release the pin holding the lock cylinder in. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
well if there is no hole in the plastic cover, then you have to take it off to access the tumbler assembly. then you will see the tiny hole at the bottom. set to run position, and press it in with a small object, and then tumbler should come right out. it can be a stickey sometimes. especially if someone did not use graphite lube, and sprayed WD40 into it like mine.
if there is still no hole, then maybe someone put some cheap new assembly on it. i hope not, replacing the whole thing is expensive, and even self done is a pain.
