Immobilizer bypass unit on remote starter

hey i bought a remote starter last night. http://www.designtech-intl.com/diy.asp the second one down. well the website says i need a immobilizer bypass unit to properly install it. personal i didn't think my truck needs it. it does not have PATS (as far as i know) it has manuel locks, windows, and everything. does my truck have a anti theft imobilizer? for the time being can i just leave a programed key (if it is needed) in the ignition and lock the doors?

first of dont leave the key in because if you do and your truck is broken into and stolen your insurance wont cover it because a key was left it in, no getting around that one. i had to use one in my truck and it is an 2000, i use the 556uw which is the hide a key, so if you have an extra one use that if not go get one from the dealer and get it programmed. the 556uw is easy i use them on 85% of the cars that i do. i would get you the wiring diagram for your truck but directechs wont let me in right now so i am working on that so go to the12volt.com and find the wiring diagram. do you know how to do electrical also? only use a Digital multimeter, solder all connections.

screw the 556u goto your local best buy and pick up a directed XK04 ford pats bypass if you need it because you dont need to lose a key.

YOu probably dont have one unless you have a theft ligh that flashes on your dash when your our of your car and you lock the doors. I did my uncles 05 FX4 and his didnt remote start didnt require a bypass unit. My 03 Edge did require it so it just matters what kind of key you have. If you have a basic silver key with no black ford thing on of the key you odnt have one. If you do have the black ford key then yes you do have an immobilizer
