I'm trying to swap all of the lights in my truck with LEDS. I swapped all lights except the tail light and day time running lights bc of hyper-flash. I wasted my money on a decoder bc that didn't work at all. Is there any like resistor or decoder y'all would recommend so I can complete this??

Yup, good old ep-27 electronic flasher.
Best $15 bucks you'll spend. It remedies almost all issues related to led turn signals including the dreaded hyper flash.

 

Only two ways to prevent "hyper" or "fast" flashing with LED bulbs used for turn signals: either a flasher as stated above designed for the lower power requirement of an LED bulb, or load resisters installed at each bulb location. Obviously, the flasher is the easiest solution.

 

I tried installing LED bulbs in my brake lights after the regular bulbs kept blowing the fuse when I hit the brake. Not only did the LEDs come on when braking, so did the parking lights and the dash lights. I put the regular bulbs back in, and snipped off the extra wiring the previous owner added (to wire to a trailer, I guess) and that stopped the fuse blowing.

 

thats because your leds are backfeeding the electrical system of the truck lol

So that means I won't be able to use them. OK.

 

You'll either need different LEDS that are better or take the time to ground them manually. Id suggest picking up LEDS from Buggman.

 

I've heard good things about buggman- I'll look into that.

 

Also, leave the regular bulbs in the front, it should work ok.

Could have been the extra wiring was shorting out !

 

The best trailer lighting you can do with your ranger (or any vehicle) is to buy the trailer wiring that has the built in factory harness plugs; this harness is "plug and play" meaning it plugs into the factory wiring harness. No potential shorts, no mis-wiring, no silly electrical tape wrapped wire splices.

 

the plug and play units are great for OEM wiring.

 

If a previous owner butchered the wiring, it would be worth the time & effort to change as much as you could, this will prevent issues down the road too.

I got a hopkins hoppy brand trailer T connector for my 96 & it was super simple only 1 screw for ground was needed.

Once you have the wiring back in good shape you should be able to combat the hyper flash (possible the other issues too) with the ep-27 electronic flasher.

 

So this flasher is something that connects in the wiring or what? I remember hearing of this, just didn't know where it was installed. is it a simple solution?

 

Also, will this work for both the front and back turn signals?

 

The flasher is located under the dash above the pedals. turn your hazards on and listen for it, the ticking when the signals flash. get under the dash and feel around for it if you can't see it and replace that flasher with the EP27.

replacing that flasher will take care of front and rear signals
