LED color question..

My friend wants me to put purple LEDs on her car, but was wondering.....Superbrightleds has what they call "UV" leds (under car/bike LEDs), does the "UV" actually mean purple?
She wants purple LEDs, just trying to find out if you can get purple...I know nothing about LEDs except for tailights and rock lights...and they aren't purple

UV = ultraviolet

Ultraviolet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

They most likely look like dim purple lights depending on brightness and quantity.

You will get the strip club look for sure. Dark purple lighting where everyone's clothes glow.

UV LED's.... So they emit light outside the spectrum visible to the human eye. Invisible light. Sounds like a great investment, along with blinker fluid.

OK, I know exactly what UV is, hence the "UV" and NOT UV in my first post.....

Let's clarify and make this simple.....are there any PURPLE under car LEDs out there? Have to be waterproof and bright.

Actually, you should head over to Radio Shack and pick up a 2pk of ultraviolet(UV) 5mm clearwater LED's for about $1.50. Use a cell phone battery to test them out...you'll see that they are pretty darn bright and do emit a purple color that the human eye CAN see. I used them on a couple electronic projects in the past in a purple and blue pattern.

Then clearly they aren't really UV and the bafoons selling them are saying that to make it sound cool.
