Thank you Michael

I urge caution when you start adding flashers to you existing lights. If you are not an emergency vehicle, there is a good chance that flashing headlights, fog lights, and reverse lights are very illegal. You say this is for "the job" and your profile states "Diesel Tech". I would assume we are talking some kind of roadside service gig here. I understand the hazzard involved here and why you want some extra warning. But flashing headlights, back-flashers and strobes on your tail lights, fog light flasher, etc are not for that purpose and I strongly urge you to rethink using them for such. It is only going to get you in serious trouble. It also makes people who see you using it for roadside repairs give it less of a priority when someone with a legitimate use going to an emergency comes along. They end up thinking "why should I pull over for that guy, he is just going to fix a car".

I can see you don't have any malintent, unlike some people on other boards I've seen, which why I am nicely saying "don't do that!".

I also use the truck to go out on repo runs with a friend of mine. It quickly gets the attention of the people in the surrounding area to get out of the way. That is why I am using mainly amber lights. The lights draw attention to us when problems arise so it lowers the risk for us

Ok, but that doesn't explain the need for flashing headlights, flashing fog lights, strobes in the same, etc etc. Besides the fact that using them is most likely illegal, it is impersonating a real emergency vehicle (which repo getaway vehicle is not), and AGAIN makes people start ignoring those of us who have a legal use for them going to an emergency. If that in and of it itself is not reason enough, I would really hate to be you when the police officer your vehicle is immitating finds this escapade.

You can do what you want with your amber lights, and I mean ALL amber lights. Not "mostly" amber lights. Not "mainly" amber lights. You are crossing the line from safety to impersonation and blatent disregard for the rest of us who have a legitimate use for it.

It is kinda hard for me to make my headlights flash amber...

And if you are on the freeway with traffic wizzing by at nearly 80 MPH, you want to be seen as much as possible. That is the service vehicle aspect of the setup. I have had so many close calls due to poor lighting at night on calls that I don't care to get personal with someone's front bumper.

And as you state, it is my truck and I can use whatever I want on it.

Not trying to flame. But if they don't want us to have them, don't sell em to the public.

THEN YOU DON'T HAVE FLASHING HEADLIGHTS! Period. End of story. I can't believe I have to even say that.

I am intimately familiar with that. I have been at countless accidents with both my own personal vehicle and big red trucks, thanks. I have had to jump guard rails to avoid getting run over by some jackass not paying attention. Don't lecture me about the dangers of roadside emergencies,

Once again, please expain to me why you need flashing headlights, foglights, and strobes in the same? Like I said, put all the amber lights you want on the truck. When you start flashing your headlights and making other forms of white light, THAT IS CROSSING THE LINE. You don't do it. (Why am I starting to sound repetitive?)

I did not state you could impersonate a legitimate emergency vehicle, police officer, firefighter, EMT, etc etc which is what you are doing by going beyond the amber lights. Go ahead and "do whatever you want". I will NOT hesitate to inform the local law enforcement agency that someone is knowingly doing what you are doing. Remember, this is personal because when you screw around with this stuff, it reflects on those of us who don't screw aroud and have a legitimate reason.

They sell guns. Does that mean you can shoot whatever you want because they sell them? No. Don't try to blame the retailers and manufacturers for your inability to grasp the law and abide by it for the very good reason it is there.

I was originally happy to help you out with what seemed like a legitimate project. But now you're starting to **** me off with the careless attitude.
