Those are so easy to break into without actually breaking them. We could have taught you how to get in there.

I would let a pro do it, if it was me. You can make a mess out of it or it could leak if you don't do it right.

def let a pro do it, its held in by a bunch of clips on the inside, but even i would only trust a pro to have it seal right

PS i also moved this and edited the title a bit, so more people can help. always try to use a descriptive title

$400! Only I would be dumb enough to pay that much.
Actually I paid $260 to get a rear slider (170 for the glass, 90 install)
installed at the dealer where I purcashed the truck.

Truthfully, I got taken. You can get a wonderful 2 glass slider installed for $150. My brother-in-law got a beautiful CR Laurence window for $100 and 50 to install. Or, a solid rear window is available for probably under $75.

The dealership told me my old one would be unusable, since they break when removed. That was pure BS, because I saw the glass guy come out and drop my old window off at the parts counter. I was being nice at the time, and didn't call them on it. That won't happen again. I'm sure they sold that window to someone at cost.

Honestly, go to a few glass places and get pricing. You can get good quality SECURE rear sliders that won't rattle. Ford uses the worst POS sliders on the market. For $400 you can get a powered rear slider

Think of this as a good opportunity to upgrade. :D

Now this is a different year ranger, but I purchased a solid back glass for my 95 Ranger from a junkyard to replace the slider. I think I paid $75. Maybe $100.

Just make sure you have somebody to help you. My dad helped and it wasn't that bad.

If I remember correctly, you have to take the interior panels off to get the glass out/in. The rubber weatherstripping was the hardest part. I believe we put it around the back glass first and then put the glass in place. By doing this, you have to go around the entire window to make sure the weatherstripping is set correctly. I think we used a flathead screwdriver to pry out the weatherstripping. It probably took us an hour.

Well, I've put a slider on sale on eBay this morning, before I knew about your problem. I started the bidding at $120, which is a crap load better than 400. They are super easy to install. And if you're lookin' for a solid window, I think I have one, already tinted, for like 60-70 bucks. Bo
