I have a 2002 3.0 4x4 regular cab ranger I have completely rebuilt and rewired everything the Previous owner had mucked up as I pulled the connector from the ecu I noticed a broke pin, my question is how do I go about replacing this and what all does this entail, keep in mind I have no key the ignition switch is broken can be started by just turning the switch with out a key, I plan of fixing this issue also but i can’t seem to find any information on the issues from what I have read I’ll need new keys and need them programmed to the ECU any help would be awesome thanks in advance
If that Pin is not used then no issues
If you post the Pin number I can look it up on 2002 PCM
Yes, 1999 and up Rangers with V6 engines used PATS(passive anti-theft system)
In 2002 PATS is in the PCM
So if you get a new/refurbished PCM then make sure it comes with KEYS
There is a transceiver(wand) around the key slot, this connects to the PCM
When key is turned on PCM "reads" the Keys unique number via the Wand, and it will compare that number to the numbers in its memory, if there is a match then Fuel Pump will come on and Fuel Injectors will work
If there is no match then no fuel pump and no injectors
Some years also disabled starter motor if there was No Match.
Most mobile locksmiths have Ford software on a laptop so can make/cut PATS keys and then add them to the PCMs memory
PCM part numbers can be confusing, yours is 2L5A-12A650-BD
2L5A = 2002 Ranger
12A650 = Ford part number for ALL PCMs, not model specific, every PCM Ford uses has this number in the center
BD = Revision number, its important but not exclusive, meaning many revision number will work as replacement, Ford never released any documents on these numbers
BRN3 = this is software package that was loaded to the PCM at the factory, very important number, it needs to be match as close as possible, again Ford never released what these number mean
