mounted some Hella 500s and removed air dam

i had a set of Hella 500 driving lights that i had mounted on the windshield brackets on my TJ.

i took them off when i sold it just because they weren't one of those things that would make or break the sale, and i figured i could use them another day.
i set out sunday to remove the air dam from the front bumper to reduce the 'lowrider' look, and also to fix the license plate holder thing.

while i was tooling around the front of the truck, i decided to mount the lights. i was trying to avoid drilling into the bumper (don't know why...it's only 12 years old) so i thought behind the grille would be a good location.

anyway, nothin special. just thought i'd share.
it is not actually legal to use "driving lights" on the road so there was not much of a point in mounting them, other than i had them sitting in my garage, and i can use them in the morning at work.

Looks good. I'm trying to decide the same thing, I just sold my bull bar and I was going to keep the lights. I'm just wondering if that blocks too much of the air flow to the radiator, is that far-fetched?

I had Hella's in the grill of my Level II for two and a half years and I never noticed the temp guage get any warmer then it did before.

yeah, so far no issues with the radiator. really don't expect any. they block some of the rad., but i doubt it will be enough to do anything.
the only thing i was concerned about was the horizontal bar in the grille blocking the beam of the light, but i don't see that to be a problem afterall.

yeah, i think if i could find one pretty cheap, i might look into it. if it looked like i was going to have to spend a decent amount of coin for it, i'd just have a custom bumper made.

It looks good with the air dam gone, but I don't think I like the lights behind that style grill.

honestly, i'm kinda with you on that. it's not my favorite look, but it's what i had to work with. i think it look 10x better behind a "honeycomb" or mesh style grille.
