I have an alarm on my truck, and when I get out it just dings constantly, with or without my headlights being left on. We've had some dreary days here, so it has been necessary to have my lights on. Unfortunately, upon exiting I am accustomed to hearing the "dinging" and I forget that my lights are still on. When i get back to the vehicle, two hours later, both of my two batteries (SLI, and a dedicated Audio )are drained. Are there any wiring solutions to fix this, because neither I nor my battery can take this abuse much longer. I do my best to remember, but I miss it quite often. What makes remembering so difficult is that the headlamps remain on for a few seconds after the alarm is set.

Ha ha, I couldn't figure out what was going on......thanks for the translation!

First, always carry jumper cables so when crap like this happens you'll be prepared. As for the lights staying on, I'm sure there's something of a timer that you can buy to shut off your headlights when the truck is off. I just have no idea where to tell you to look.

Who installed the alarm?
Sounds like somebody connected something wrong.
Maybe they crossed the parking lights flasher wires with the headlight wires....
Could be the daytime running lights circuit too (if your truck has one)

I know a guy that connected the parking lights flasher circuit (of his alarm) to his headlights & every time he turned his alarm on, his headlights would flash once then stay on for several minutes afterwards. His battery was ALWAYS going dead. After several months, I finally convinced him to trace his wiring... he found the problem, switched the wires & no more headlights flashing.

there is a daytime running lights feature for our trucks that could be used but your lights would always be on... not a bad thing imho its safer
