Hello all,

Excuse the outburst but 2007 is starting out to be a bad year. I'm new to the forums and have a beat up truck that hates me.

I get to work this morning and my ebrake pedal goes to the floor. I pulled the release and nothing happened. I got down and found that i could pull the release and move the pedal with my hand. I'm hoping that the cable has slipped off the ebrake pedal inside the cab. I can still drive the truck so at least i'm not stranded. But i'm more than an hour from home at the start of my work day and no tools. Can anybody tell me how to check the ebrake cable connection to the pedal sans tools?

 

Andrew 1 thread is enough.... some one will get to you. most people use the active topic button at the top it will bring your thread up and they will see it. mid day is slow sometimes do to people being at work.

i can explain it but with no tools i dont know how to tell you also i am not the best teacher... someone will get to you..

 

 

The p-brake cable travels down the left frame rail. Look under the truck to see if it's broken.

If it looks OK, then pull downward slightly on the cable and see if it has tension. If not, it could be broken/disconnected at either end.

 

go under the truck and look at the e-brake cable... it runs along the frame rail on the drivers side... if there is lots of slack in it by the pedal then thats your problem... most likely the cable broke where it connects to the pedal or at least thats where mine broke

well, i looked and it appears that y'all were right. The cable looked and felt loose. I'm going to get farther into on my lunch break. Looks like i'll have to do an emergency replacement tonight.


and to think, it just passed inspection 3 days ago.
