need help figurin out dome light problem
well my dome light would never go off so i took the fuse out and today decided to fix it but it really messed up .
when i disconnected the harness from the driver door it went out so hooked it back up and took the out side light off and when i took the bulbs out the dome light also went out. now the bulbs never were lit so the bulbs where making the connection. so i tested this and put a screwdriver in it and it confirmed my theory . and i know they are on a common ground so the only thing is that the pos. is shorted out some where.
but does the wiring go from the door to the outside light then to the dome light or the other way around?
also there is no switches in the passenger door due to different door
thanks guys

Depending on the year of your Ranger the dome light is controlled through you body control module. These modules are known for there problems. Let me know the Year and what engine you have and I can post a wiring Diagram.
ok let me know if this is crap or what .
i just got back from the local ford dealership i went to see about getting a wiring book for my truck and guy said they don't do stuff like that.
now my dad ordered shop books from the same dealership.
it sounds like the guy didn't want anything to do with it
i still haven't figured this whole thing out i tore abort the whole cab yesterday and didn't get anywhere its driving me crazy

ok i just came in from trying to figure it out and came back more confused.
the switch in the door at activates the light does not work using ohm tester
and made sure this was right by checking the door buzzer switch which is separate.
but if i disconnect the harness from the driver door under the dash no lights work (hi mount or dome )
do you think its the switch thats causing this or a short somewhere else?
i made sure the wires weren't shorting in the door boot.
and does anyone know where the relays are mounted?
thanks
