Need help please wiring
Need help please wiring
I jave a 1992 with a 2.3 motor blow so i got a 1999 2.5 i used all my sensors except crank an cam i have 4 wires how do i wire them sensors to get it runing an also i got one wire that whent to oil pan what do i do with it now someone please help im stumped
Welcome to the forum
Oil pan wire is for oil level sensor, so doesn't need to be used, you may have to ground it to turn off Low Oil Light in dash
For Crank and cam sensors you have a BIG problem.
1992 engine and computer used Hall Effect Crank sensor
1999 engine and computer used Variable Reluctance(VR) Crank sensor
There is no way to rewire these to work
You needed to use a 1989 to 1994 2.3l to replace your 1992 model
In 1995 Rangers got newer model computers(EEC-V, OBD2) and switched to VR crank sensors
So swapping a 2.5l into a 1995-1997 Ranger would be OK
Hall effect signal and VR signal are not similar so there is no "electronic" circuit you can add to make them interchangeable
I have never look at this but you might be able to swap front engine covers and use the Hall Effect Crank sensor on the 2.5l.
2.5l has a different crank and longer connecting Rods, thats the only mechanical difference from the 2.3l
But that different crank may not allow the use of 2.3l crank gear and crank sensor wheel.
As said never looked at it.

1992 computer only understands Hall effect signals
Swapping to a 1995 or later computer is an option BUT.............
Lots of wiring harness changes would be needed.
1992 computer is 60 wire EEC-IV
1995 and up computer is 104 wire EEC-V
1999 2.5l fuel system and injectors were run at 65psi pressure
1992 fuel system was 35psi
But you can put the 2.3l intake on the 2.5l engine
