Personally if it was me I would see if the old ones are rebuildable.
To that end if they have been over heated and they are cracked, then you have no other choice then to get new or remanufactured.
I would go with remanufactured rather then new.
With new ones, the castings could be made in China and there is no quality control.

Keep in mind too that if the truck has been over heated to the point where the heads are cracked and warped, then there may be severe bearing damage to the bottom end.
The 3 liters were not known for cracked heads though.
They did have a soft valve problem, but your Mazda is from 2000, so that doesn't apply here.
2004 to 2006 had the soft valve seat problem.

more concerned with quality over price.
Remember reading on this site, someone talking about some aftermarket heads. They cost about $700 (at that time).
I hear different stories about reman heads, from lasting only 10k miles, to no problems at all
