This should help:

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/When_theft...is_be_bypassed

Question:
When theft system light is blinking 2001 ford expedition will not start how can this be bypassed?
In: Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer

Answer
WE had the same issue with our truck. Its a sensor in the ignition that you can't change or by pass. Its an electronic chip sensor. It took 6 trips to the dealer to get this found and fixed. Good luck

Knowing ford, itll run about 50 bucks to have them pull off the steering wheel, however much for the part itself.. then another 50 to put it all in and get it back to you.

This as well:

First Post:
Went out to the garage and the car starts but won't keep running. Theft light is blinking and check engine light is on. No one has tried to steal it that I know of, what's up with this? Any help appreciated, car goes into shop this afternoon for gears and chip, so need help ASAP!
Thanks.................

Second Post:
Searched archives for help, turns out to be the key. I had a new key made at wally world that I used, that is the problem. Old key works fine, starts, runs. New key starts it, but motor dies. Thanks.

I would test the key theory first.. I have heard of it happening, since you have a PATS key, being its a 2002, you may need to have to go to the dealer and have them reflash the key/truck.

Any memory in your Computers is gone. NEVER let a car/truck sit for a long period of time without charging the battery. The caps have all discharged.

Follow these steps:

Make sure that the battery is charged.

Close the doors.
  • If you have remote keyless entry, lock the doors using the RKE fob. Wait about an hour, then unlock using the RKE fob.
  • If you have manual locks, lock the doors using the key in the driver door lock. Wait about an hour, then unlock using the key in the driver door lock.
Try to start the engine. There's a very good chance that this will clear the theft condition from PATS. Good luck.

There's no guarantee that the above method will work but it might. Trying it doesn't cost anything and it could possibly avoid a tow to the dealer and a big PATS repair bill.

Why you would let a car sit for 7 months just because of blown tires is beyond me. If you couldn't afford tires then at least start the damn thing once a week. My quad is in pieces since I crashed it a while back. Parts are expensive so it has been sitting for about a month. I put fuel stabilizer in the gas and I run it every Monday so it doesn't go to ****. It's not hard to do.
