Need shorter drive belt part#

I have a 2008 ranger 4x4 4.0L automatic. A/C compressor seized up and I want to put a shorter belt on to bypass the compressor all together. I've checked with my local parts store and they said they don't have a listing for a ranger without A/C. That can't be right, I know there must be a shorter belt. Can someone give me a part number please. Thank you.

Get a tailors tape (flexible tape measurer) and measure the length of the tape going through the pulleys as if it were a belt, minus the AC compressor pulley.

That measurement converted to millimeters is the second half of your part number, the first part will be the number of ribs in the belt (6k or 6pk means 6 ribs) so for example a belt with a part number 6PK1255 is a 6 ribbed belt 1,255mm's long. So determine your part number then go to the parts store and say fetch me this! You may need to compromise since you may end up measuring 1252mm but the only closest belt is a 6pk1255.

Be aware however it may not be possible to just bypass the AC compressor because it may cause the belt to route in a way where it would interfere with something else like another accessories bracket. Double check for issues while making your measurement.

If it's the A/C compressor that's seized up and the clutch is still working properly, just unplug the A/C clutch or it's relay so that it doesn't engage.

Something you'll have to watch for when by-passing the A/C is that the water pump and power steering pump are going to rotate in the correct direction.

Dayco part # 5060725 or 6PK1840 fits perfectly. Works great.
