Need some help with Hella 500s
Need some help with Hella 500s
I am installing my Hellas and I am not sure where to hook the 12v power for the switch. I have alreadt run all the wires from the relay and for the actual lights.I thought that I could tie it into the power for the headlights but I am not sure which color wire that is, I think its black. Also I read in some places to attach it to a fuse that is not very important, but that seems a little crazy. If anyone has an idea about this it would be really appreciated.

there is a light green wire that comes from the switch that you hook to the headlights maybe so the indicator light inside the switch comes on when you turn your headlights on. I believe that is it. But I was also thinking that could be hooked to the battery for the 12v
I've got mine hooked directly to the battery with the Hella harness/relay and my switch doesn't stay lit up all the time. Only when I flip the Hellas on does the switch stay lit.

cool thanks a bunch yall, i finally figured it out.. the whole time I thought that the switch would light up all the time, but the light only comes on when you switch it on. I got them in and working, thanks for the help
if you hook the trigger power supply to the white/green wire that goes into the headlight harness it will be on the low beams I know for a fact cause that is where I tied into the 12v. I believe if you tie into the other two-tone wire, the green/black wire that will put it on the highbeams..... Since you have your power coming from the cig lighter, can you turn your fogs on without the headlights being on?
I can turn mine on anytime... truck on or off. There is always power going to the lighter.
Yeah ok that makes sense...I am real new at electrical work, but that is actually a good idea, that way they can always be turned on, even when you have your brights on or not at all
In my opinion, it's much easier to mount the relay on the inner fender behind the battery and hook the power directly to the battery. I'd never hook foglights to a wire behind the dash for a main power source. Just my 2 cents....

We're not talking main power sources... just the power for the switch.
