New Gauges.

Hey everyone, I've got something going through my head, but I had to see if this was possible first.

Is there a way & how hard would it be to completly get rid of the Ranger cluster & go w. a different speedo, tach, volt meter, etc?

You could change the cluster. The problem is the cluster you get will most likely not be able to use your existing wiring. Since the Ranger has a diffferent set up as compared to an Explorer. The tach has different pinout as well as the idiot lights.

Have paitence, time, and Luck

Defiantly be doing a lot of rewiring. I was going to ditch the gauge cluster out of my old 85 Cutlass and do a complete race gauge look.....but rewiring then for me was like chinese.

An all aftermarket gauge cluster would look cool, if you could pull it off. Keep doing some homework and get a hold of a wiring book for your Ranger.

Yea, I'm wanting to get a 'race' type look if you will.

Chilton's wiring diagrams are your friend. Theres also plenty of diagrams online. Google is also your friend.

lol. ive already got one up on ya. it will cost me about 200 to replace the 4 small gauges like fuel level and stuff, an probably another 200 foor the tach an speedo.

its posibble, there are sending units the youll need on some gauges, and maybe some othe little stuff.

Are you going to remove the factory dash and go custom tube/plate?

It can be done but will take a while. I know autometer sells a drop in cluster conversoin for the mustang so its possible. You may need a tach driver and im not sure about the speedo. Oil, water may need new sendors to work with aftermarket gauges. IDK

like you see in professional rock crawlers and junk..

that would look pretty cool but i think if you did it you would need to do something else to the dash so its not stock like metal it too or somethin..IMO
