i was reading about these new headlight bulb kits available

some other forums are raving about these new CREE LED high output headlight kits

they are saying the light output is greater than the HID bulbs and are fully DRL compatible

i found 1 seller in chiliwack selling the 50 watt 3600 lumen kits ( hard to find )

any one else been reading up on these new kits , they supposedly use 70% less energy than OEM halogen bulbs

i might just bite the bullet and order a kit

 

Eh, i can't see them being better than hid lights in terms of distance.

 

it would all depend on the reflector housing itself
but they tested the kit inside projectors and they illuminated father than the hid bulbs did

 

I'm curious to see these in Ranger housings.

I knew it was only a matter of time before LED technology progressed enough to offer kits like this.

Even if they aren't as far reaching as HIDs, I would gladly give them up for LEDs

 

There's been a number of folks with older vehicles who've installed the Truck-Lite redesigned LED replacements for sealed housings. I've seen a few in person and am impressed. BUT...I've seen a few who have axed them in favor of a HID retrofitted projector setup for it's range, width, and upgradability...not to mention affordability.

And judging by that last picture in the link, it'll be the same problems the plug-in HID's have.....the glare to oncoming traffic. For the optics to work right, just as with HID, the bowl/reflector needs to be LED specific.

I feel the technology and options just isn't there yet for a do-it-yourselfer universal installation. I can see in a couple more years, it'll be more available to folks like us. It's just too new and the options aren't there yet.

 

I think this would be a decent upgrade and would love to see the results of this conversion. Get some decent benefits from it also. I might just purchase one of those sets. I just have the stock lights they just don't seem that bright really.

 

I am curious to see them, I'm happy with my reverse cree's.

I could see some idiot replacing everything with cree's and getting a plate that says "creed" thus creating his own prison... Of insults

 

here is my led conversion. IMHO they're brighter than stock. Apparently some have fans built in that fail but mine don't. I'm happy!!
