No Turn Signals

I do not have turn signals on my 2001 ranger. I have replaced all fuses associated with lights, replaced flasher relay. Hazards work and always have. I checked the multifunction switch and when I probe the test light into the hot wire everything works as it should. I installed a new switch and this did not fix the issue. Please help.

Welcome to the forum

In the cab fuse box, fuse 10 is for turn signals, fuse 21 is for Hazards

With Hazards on do all 4 corners flash and the 2 dash light?
Do both rear brake lights come on when you press brake pedal?

If yes to both the above then you have a wiring issue between Flasher and Multi-function switch, the light blue wire most likely

Diagrams below
Flasher has 5 wires
Orange/yellow wire is the 12volt IN when KEY IS ON only, for turn signals
Red/white wire is also 12v IN but full time for the Hazards
White/red wire is 12v OUT for the Hazards
Light Blue wire is 12v OUT for the turn signals <<<<this is the wire that is most likely the issue

On the multi-function switch connector the light blue wire, follow it around to "normal" and you will see how it powers the Turn signals only inside the switch
If light blue wire wasn't connected well or didn't have 12v from flasher then no left or right turn signals, but Hazards would work, as would brake lights

So disassemble column again and unplug the multi-switch connector
Key ON
Test light blue wire for 12volts, if no 12v then go to flasher and test light blue wire, while is plugged in for 12v, if no 12v then test orange/yellow wire for 12v, if not 12v then go to fuse 10 and test for 12v

Point being is the light blue wire not have 12v is the only thing common to BOTH left and right turn signals
If light blue wire has 12v then the connector is not lining up the light blue wire with multi-switch tab, so bad connection

Testing voltages
You need to test battery voltage with key off and then key on, REMEMBER IT
If key on voltage at battery was 12.5volts, then when you test the light blue wire it should be EXACTLY 12.5volt, not "a little less", a little less means a wiring problem, bad connection somewhere

  • Thanks for the detailed instructions. When originally checking all the fuses I failed to return the #10 fuse to it's proper location. I replaced and now everything works just fine. Feeling dumb, but at t least the light work now.
