OBD II bluetooth?
OBD II bluetooth?
I was roaming the world wide web and came across something pretty dang interesting! They now have a device that you plug into your OBD II port and you can read and clear trouble codes and even get up to date perameters on your car (such as coolant temp, rpms, etc etc). Has anyone heard of these or used one? I can get a Chinese cheapy off eBay for ten bucks. But I dont wanna fry my computer like my brother did on his Lightning buying a chip off eBay...
I wanna know if they really work. I think they should make an app so you can do all the same work as a programmer (change octane, set shift points, and my fav: turn off speed limiter).

I was just looking at those yesterday. It'd be sweet if they work well. There's a phone app you can use to read the codes, I believe it's called Torque or something.
I want to get one, i'm just wondering what the difference is in the devices, they range from like $10 to over $50.
It would be awesome if they had one that was a tuner/programmer

He is talking about the bluetooth OBD readers, not just any generic OBDII readers.
They sell ones that you can connect your smart phone too and it will show you the parameters on your phone. Pretty nifty actually

Garmin has a bluetooth accessory that plugs into your OBDII port and sends the info to your gps (newer models).

A Scanguage is not the same thing. These use your smartphone/iphone. They range anywhere from the 10 dollar eBay cheapos to $100 on Jegs.
I have a Garmin too so that one would be nice. And it costs about the same.
I wouldnt even think twice about it if I could change my trucks settings like a tuner. I dont even care about the performance part of it (yet). I just want to be able to change my speed limiter mainly lol.
