P0500 1999 Ranger 3.0
P0500 1999 Ranger 3.0
Bonjour all,
Huey here from Cajun Country. Happy to be here with my 'new' 1999 Ranger with only 70k miles on it.
Unfortunately after purchasing it from a friend I immediately began getting the P0500 error code.
My mechanic has been through it a few times...changed the VSS, cleaned the junctions in the wires, etc.
Each time he thinks he has corrected the problem, this is what happens:
1) Truck is running correctly, for about a dozen short uses.
2) O/D light comes on; truck is still running correctly
3) Check Engine light comes on; truck works correctly for another 1 or 2 starts.
4) Truck begins to shift hard
5) Speedometer stops working and doesn't shift out of 1st gear.
6) If an error code reader is used, it shows the P0500 error code and when the code is cleared, the truck runs perfectly and then start again
Has anyone experienced this issue? Anything I could tell my mechanic?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Huey
