Passenger window only rolls down
Passenger window only rolls down
Driver side switch for passenger window does nothing. Passenger switch rolls down only.
I bought a new motor to test. when plugged in, it only turned one direction.
Pulled the switch off and clipped off the plastic guide that ensures it's plugged in the right way. I then plugged it in backwards. It still only rolled down, so it's not the switch.
As a last ditch effort, mostly because it's winter now, I unplugged the motor, then cross wired the pigtails with a couple pieces of solid core wire and the window rolled up.
I'm not sure if the driver switch doing nothing at all is a hint?
I hear the relay for the window power is up above the steering column. I recently was working in that area when I tightened the shifter bolts. I did have ignition power on while doing this so I could listen to music.
Does anyone have some advice on this?

I think your going to learn to use a voltmeter. Try a harbor ft digital or any low cost meter $10 . The elec diag manual also helps. I use a meter and a signal tracer to find difficult issues. My ranger because of hurricane sandy has been through 5 prior owners 6 dealers 4 states. largely many electrical problems , its now a really nice running vehicle,
