PATS Anti-Theft Delete - big news!

Hey guys, I have some really exciting news! We can now delete PATS on pretty much any Ranger and Explorer PCM.

In the past, there were certain Rangers that just couldn't be done. Especially the 01-03 Rangers and Explorer Sport Tracs. But also some Explorers, Focus, and Windstars. Ford simply didn't put an "OFF" switch in the calibration, so there were always certain vehicles that just couldn't be PATS deleted. We've been working on this problem for several years, and I've finally worked out a solution. We are still in the early stages of testing as of today (4/10/23), but so far we are having great success and I feel comfortable enough now to make the announcement. I think we've got these "impossible to delete" ones licked!

In addition to PATS deletes, we also offer custom and performance tuning. We do a ton of Rangers with the Explorer 5.0L swap, and have always had PATS deletes, standalone conversions, and performance tunes available for those. But most 01-03 Ranger PCMs remained elusive. Why delete PATS on a stock Ranger? Because the repair parts for these older Fords are often discontinued by the time the vehicle is 15-20 years old, and most of these parts were dealer only items that were not available in the aftermarket. So once Ford discontinues a Transceiver or a PATS module, they consider your vehicle obsolete if these parts fail. Can't fix it, sorry! Your truck is junk because we quit building a $35 part.

We can direct flash your PCM if you send it to us, and permanently eliminate the PATS system on any Ranger. No programmers to buy, no towing the vehicle to a dyno shop, no hunting for used parts, hoping they work, and then paying a locksmith to come to you to find out. Just fill out our forms, and mail them to us along with your computer. We'll handle the rest! Email me to get the forms.

Best regards,
Steve at Drag Radial Performance

Yes, it did. We have been doing these for several months now, and probably have 15 or 20 under our belt at this point. It works perfectly!

If it doesn't work, it won't be because of our work. I say that because we can tell whether it was successful while it's still here on the bench. So we know it works, every time.

Now if your vehicle has multiple problems, other problems, or you misdiagnosed your situation and PATS is not the actual cause of your problem, then those problems will still exist. But it's pretty easy to tell if this is for you. 1) You will have a rapidly blinking theft light, every time you turn the key on. 2) If you leave the key on longer than 1 minute, it will start blinking a 2 digit PATS trouble code at you. As long as that code isn't 16, then this will solve your PATS problem. 3) If you can use a scantool or code reader to successfully talk to your PCM at the same time as you have that rapidly blinking theft light, then this will work for you.

We do so much of this, we have zero doubt about how it works on our end. But sometimes, people have other problems with their vehicle that can look like a PATS problem at a glance, but actually isn't a PATS problem. And if you find yourself in that situation, we have solutions for that too, where we can help you diagnose those other problems, to solution. But we've done enough of these 01-03 Rangers to know exactly how it works.

Been looking at 5.0 swapping my 02 Ranger, struggling to find a doner with the right config (everything I'm finding is way out of state or 4x4 compared to my 4x2). I'm doubtful Pick-n-pull will have the keys to the vehicle. Can a PCM be PATS deleted and still work with the stock ignition from an 02 Ranger? If memory serves, they use different versions of PATS, but I'm struggling to find anything about dealing with that situation.

Most 99-01 Explorer 5.0's are either 2WD or AWD, not 4WD. The AWD is configured the same as a 2WD electronically, since there are no electronics in those viscous coupler transfer cases used in AWDs.

The easiest solution on a 5.0 swap is to have us delete PATS. Then you don't have to worry about key programming, swapping electronics, etc. You can use your original Ranger column, lock cylinder, keys, etc. Plus, you'll never have to program keys or call a locksmith again.

Your posts on this forum were a big help in understanding what I needed to do to get my 2.3 swap in the Model T done.

I'll be sending you the PCM pretty soon when I decide how much I want to eliminate.

Here's the build thread
