Pop&Lock Power lock help

Hey all,

I have the Pop&Lock power lock and ive got it all wired up, but its not working. I've got the 2010 ranger and I had to connect to a white/purple and grey/purple wires using wire taps. Done that, tried reversing the wires, nothing.

Any tips?

That should be the colors, I looked up the wiring diagram on Ford's tech site. Let me know how it goes.

The colors for the 2007~2010 Ranger passenger lock solenoid are white w/violet stripe and gray w/violet stripe.
(Do not connect to the violet w/gray stripe or the violet w/white stripe.)

If you chose instead to use the driver door as the trigger for the Pop n Lock, the correct colors are blue w/green stripe and gray w/brown stripe.

i am connected to the white w/ purple and the gray w/ purple wires, but they are not coming from the same 'clump' of wires. Also, the solenoid on the lock works, I tested it with a battery, so its not that, it must be where I'm connected.

Both should be in the same square, black 16-pin door connector under the passenger side kick panel.

Does your passenger door power lock work? Do you have one of the Pop n Lock wires tapped into each of the white w/violet stripe and gray w/violet stripe wires going out to the passenger door?

Yes, the power door lock works, and I have tried the connect to every wire matching the instruction sheet white w/ purple and grey w/ purple wires going to the passenger door.

I am not sure what the issue is anymore. Maybe Im not making a good enough connection? I should try and do a direct connection to the proper wires and solder them, but before I do that, I need the right wires :(

Im gonna leave for now and think about it tonight and try and get it tomorrow.

I might also go over to Welland ON and see Jay (The guy from Pop and Lock) and get him to look and it, because he cant figure it out either.

The color codes I gave you are the right ones for a 2007~2010, verified in the Ford factory wiring diagrams. If the passenger door lock works and the Pop n Lock solenoid is good, then the tailgate lock should operate when connected in parallel to the factory solenoid.

So I finally got the lock working. I had the right wires all along, but I didnt didnt squeeze the wire taps enough to make a good contact. I got pissed off and squeezed em hard and then decided to try em one last time before I gave up and voila! They worked :).

Katso, go to Pop&Lock for it and it was approx. $120 CDN for the electric one.

Or go into Canadian Tire and order product #41-5148. It was $104.99 when I bought mine a while back.
