Ranger Edge 2002 vs Ranger FX-4 Level 2 2007

Hello to All,

I currently own a Ford Ranger Edge SuperCab 4x4 2002 (V6, 4.0L). I went to my dealership yesterday and made a purchase for a Ford Ranger FX4 Level II 2007 (V6, 4.0L). They had to order it has the model I wanted wasn't available anywhere around. The only extra option I wanted was the pioneer sound sytem.. Now I have to wait 4-8 weeks before I get it ehehe... Anyway...

I tried it yesterday and wow... what a difference.. It's sooo smooth compared to my 2002.

My question is, what is the big difference between both engines ? I hope someone can help me on this. As I have 4-8 weeks to wait, i'd like to learn alot about my new Ranger. What should I also expect from this new Ford ?

Thanks to all and Happy Holidays!
Pete B.

Yea, the engines are the same. Over the years they have made the cabs quieter (I think there was a big change from 02-03). They have also upgraded the brakes and small things like that. Probably the biggest difference is that your truck has what, 50k, 60k, more miles on it? and the one you drove was brand new.

Yeah, also right now, my 2002 engine does what we call pinging... I went to the dealership couple months ago and they put some stuff to fix it.. to remove the excess carbon or something like that.. but it stayed ok for like 2 weeks and then came back.. I am loosing power on it.. When I hook up my trailer with a seadoo on it, something, my engine lights come up... I think it's a good time that I change it.. They gave me 12000$ for my Ranger 2002.

Bah, I have to admit im comparing a 2002 with a 2007... But the difference is very big... =).. I can't wait...... 4-8 weeks... ahhhh... You know, 4-8 weeks, it's pretty quick... BUT.. When you think about your new truck every single minutes, WOW... It's slowwwww =)....

I must admit tho that the bilstein shocks looks nice...
