red battery light came on today

the red light on the dash for the battery popped on today. after hitting some mud lol
leads me to think the alternator got wet and sensed a problem or something?

but then it turned back off. so is all well?

Sounds probable to me. Might want to just check the battery with a voltmeter while the engine is running. It should be around 14.

Every time I hit mud or water fast Ill get that light after a while then It'll go away, but Ive had that light do that to me in 2 of my other rangers and and both times...alternator went out.

You might want to somehow clean it out, maby spray it out with some water.

I went through 4 alternators during the year and a half I owned the ranger because of mud and sand getting in it. I have went mudding with the battery light on and by the time I got home I couldnt even have the radio on because the alt quit working and the battery was so low. I bought an alt with a life time warranty from o'riley's when the first one died so it didnt cost me a thing for the others.

I need to make up another little tin splash shield on my truck again. I had one before doing my bumper.

i'll keep an eye on it though

Ditto for me - regarding the battery light "on" - also had it go on twice - both times it was the alternator.
