Replacing brake lines.

2003 Ranger 4WD, 4.0
4WABS

Replacing all brake lines due to heavy corrosion and multiple leaks.
I have found that the three lines coming from the ABS unit have a flexible braided steel section in them, in the engine bay, a short distance from the ABS unit. Pic attached.

I assume that Ford put them there for a reason, but I can't find replacement lines which have them. I am making replacement lines from copper nickel line. Can I use a solid line to replace these (with no flex section)?

Related question: In flaring the lines, I am finding that, no matter how careful I am, the front side of the flare looks good, but the back side is not smooth. There is a ridge where the two sides of the flaring tool meet. Will these seal?

Thanks for all the advice I have received.

The coils are for heat dissipation and a bit of protection
Google: Spring Wrap for brake lines

Cut to length and use as needed

Where the end of the brake line meets the fitting is where it seals, the back of the flare is where the nut holds the line to the fitting, so as long as it can hold the line tight to fitting it won't leak
The "nut" is not the seal
