What year Ranger?

1994 and earlier try Light Green and Light Blue, there are always 2 wires for speed sensors

1995 and up, pink/orange stripe, and grey/black stripe

BUT..........the signal from these is 8,000PPM(pulse per mile) so make sure your cruise module can handle that.

1998 and up its 24,000PPM

Cruise control modules don't know "speed", they just know Pulses, if you press the SET button the module tries to maintain the Pulses per second it was seeing at that time, but it has to be able to Read/count the pulses without it just becoming a "blur", so it will have an upper limit of pulses per second

2008 use OSS sensor kind of the samething, signalwise, as VSS

It will be on transmission tail shaft
Grey/purple stripe wire
Yellow/orange stripe wire

Grey wire is the -
Yellow the +
But it is an AC voltage signal and only the "+" half of the sine wave is used(yellow wire), so Grey wire is a technically a Ground

All in all it would be better to use the magnets on the drive shaft and pickup coil, because you know that will work with the controller
If the coil(pickup) has 3 wires then controller will not work with OSS sensor, its a Hall Effect sensor(DC Volts), VSS and OSS are both Variable Reluctance sensors(AC Volts)

Okay. Thanks for the advice. The wiring harness has a plug in for the coil and magnet pickup. I was just trying to not to spend more money on this because as you probably know not every part comes in the original package and you have to keep buying. I am going to go with your suggestion. Thank you very much. I love my truck. Had a 250 super duty before this one. Step down but love it..
Will use this forum fr5om now on for advice.
